Hi
Using 1.10.3 "Hyacinthe".
I have a user who wants a particularly long page, which is really an archive of lots of companies who have been recipients of grants, by year. There are about 5 years worth (so I'll create 5 pages).
I was wondering if anyone knew of a module, or way to have a 'more' dropdown, so say, the first line is displayed, with a 'more' option to dropdown extra content.
I guess I could use page anchors and have a list at the top of the page, but this seems a bit clumsy.
Many thanks,
Harry

Re: Long Page Content
Thanks, I'll take a look at those.
Is there a demo area where you can view modules in action, or do you have to install them on your own site?
Thanks,
Harry

Re: Long Page Content
I usually have a test install, where I can test modules in a "quarantined" environment, before letting it loose on an existing site.
Any time you have a list of stuff, it's best handled with a list module (listit, companydirectory, cgcalendar, news, etc). It gives your client a form to fill out, and it takes care of the formatting that you've already set.
Example:
http://www.beyondhometheater.com/servic ... -theaters/
The client fills out the data. Images automatically placed and resized. Client can easily re-order, without the formatting fall apart. I hate having clients edit plain "content" pages. I don't think the site above has any plain content to edit.

Or, simpler than the suggestions so far, consider something like http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/projects/contenttoggle which will hide content until it's clicked on.HarryCornelius wrote:I was wondering if anyone knew of a module, or way to have a 'more' dropdown, so say, the first line is displayed, with a 'more' option to dropdown extra content.

Re: Long Page Content
I like the sound of that.
All useful suggestions, I'll definitely set up a test site so I can have a play without risking breaking anything else.
Feeling pleased - I now have 2 sites finished with CMSMS, and starting on a third and fourth. I do still feel like I'm feeling my way in the dark a bit though, not being a real expert. I have copious notes and 'best practice' I've written for myself, I wonder if there might be a suitable place to share this sort of documentation?
Thanks,

Dear HarryCornelius,
I would vote for ListIt2 with some "infinite scroll" slapped on top of it
And feel free to share any tips/tricks in the "Tips and Tricks" forum
Greetings,
Manuel
