I had this under a [SOLVED] topic so I am reopening it here in the hopes that I can get some help.
I saw a note about this in the forge as a bug report, but it only pertained to news items with an expiration date. My news items DO NOT have an expiration date and mod_rewrite/pretty URLS is on. And as mentioned, this exact template works just fine here: http://idylwood.org ... Go figure!
If you go to the News page and try to click the details page link, you get a 404. You get a 404 from anywhere in the site that you try to access the detail page.
I have a page called "news" with a pagealias of "news" that I have told the News Module to use, per the instructions.
All this seems to have happened due to the upgrade.
The site is here:
http://honfish.mytestbed.com ... it's the news summary at the lower right. Credentials to access this protected page are client/letmein.
And here are the site details:

Re: News Module throws out 404 errors after upgrade to 1.11.
Make sure all the module you use are up to date to use 1.11.2, make sure the {news} tag is called correctly, I've seen an upgraded site go sideways just from having 1 extra ' in a tag that worked before the upgrade...
Re: News Module throws out 404 errors after upgrade to 1.11.
Try "Update routes" in System Maintenance.
