products module need fundamentals guide

Hi. I'm really struggling with the lack of documentation for the products module. It is hard to get it behaving how I'd like using sporadic forum posts. Is there a good guide anywhere, or should I just give up and go to joomla?

I have asked questions in a careful and detailed way before, just no answers! Am I wrong, or is there not enough popularity of modules like products to attract good documentation? I'll try and post again...
