CMS 1.3.1? That was released more than 4 years ago!
Old versions are not supported - you should upgrade.

That site in the video is not using CMS Made Simple 1.3.1, and the admin doesn't always work real well in IE, it may also have to do with how fast you are trying to do what you were doing, it takes X amount of time for the JS to catch up...
