Can't get any templates to work with 1.11

Post by FacebookSignInPlease »

The other day I installed and used 1.10.3 and got everything to work just fine (had to tweak templates per instructions on page from where they are downloaded) then yesterday I saw that a new version of CMSMS was released, so started over from scratch with 1.11.1

I tried a couple of the same templates from this site (ElegantBlue, Mobility, Opposed) and they now all give me a similar error:

Code: Select all

OMG! You broke this page.
Error: at line 73 in file C:\xampp\htdocs\sewingpage\lib\smarty\sysplugins\smarty_internal_write_file.php:

Message:

unable to write file C:\xampp\htdocs\sewingpage\tmp\templates_c\18*****4.module_db_tpl.MenuManager;Mobility : minimal_menu.php
Is there something I need to change with the menu manager to get them to work now? I like the theme "Opposed" so am most interested in getting that one to work.

Any help appreciated.

Reason: No need for long un broken text like that, makes the forum look wonky...

The error message is very obvious 'unable to write file'. Fix up your permissions.

Sorry I didn't include more information and should have. I'm running xampp on Vista. There's no way to change the permissions (there's no CHMOD or anything like that on Windows). That's why I was stumped.

I'll try installing 1.10.3 again and then going through an upgrade to see if that makes a difference. If not, then, oh well.

I have xampp on windowsm and if you go to the folder and right click it go to properties and you may see read only and other 'permissions'...

Thanks. I had this problem with a script once before. I could never get that to work. I tried all kinds of solutions, searched xampp and everything until my eyes bled.

It's funny that 1.10.3 with it's tmp and templates_c works fine yet 1.11.1 doesn't. <shrug>

I did the 1.10.3 and then the upgrade but got the same write permissions error. I was hoping to build a site locally and then upload it to a web host in one fell swoop. Looks like I'll have to put a temporary page on the front and work on it live on-line in the background. Thanks anyway.

It looks like you have "cache menu template" enabled, try disbling it and see if it helps...

Change the name of you menu template : Mobility : minimal_menu
into
Mobility_minimal_menu
Don't forget the tag {menu with this new name
