Search Passthru problem with News

I'm using this tag for my search:
{search passthru_News_detailpage="newsDetail" resultpage="search-results"}

My search results come up fine in the results page.

The problem is the news detail. When I click a result that's a news item, the link brings up the article with the search detailpage instead of the newsDetail page. Doesn't the passthru_News_detailpage="newsDetail" supposed to make the clicked search result show in the newsDetail page?

Can someone PLEASE help with this? I'm stumped.

Have you set the default detail page in News admin?...
