Hey everyone
I have been spending the past three days looking for something that will help me with my websites. CMSMS is so far my #1 choice. I have installed it and snooped around a bit, but I still have some questions.
I create websites that are mostly static. However, there are a few pages per site that my clients will want to update regularly. I would like to create sites that have only 2 or 3 pages that my clients can edit. Is that possible with CMSMS? I could write PHP/MySQL scripts that use something like FCKeditor and then store the data, but I'm trying to find something less time-consuming and more user-friendly in the backend.
Is CMSMS the right choice for me? Is there an easier way to do this? Any suggestions, ideas, etc... would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bri
perfect solution, or overkill? Topic is solved
Re: perfect solution, or overkill?
You can always create new users for your clients and only give rights to edit certain pages.
And if you want to minimize the installation you can remove news module.
I would say that cmsms is a good choice, your customer might not want news module right now, but as time goes by they might. And adding news to cmsms is, well simple

Re: perfect solution, or overkill?
I think the constant availability of a template and the almost perfect xhtml output of CMSMS compensates the overkill more then enough as you can leave content changes to every Tom, Dick or Harry with two fingers that can write the language of your board.
It sure is more complicated to get it running then uploading a Frontpage static site bit I think it is worth every second and byte you put into CMSMS as it is a tool that allows you to create stunning, compliant websites online, without having to use tools like Frontpage, and without you having to worry your mates screw up the layout again if they are not html illiterates.
I'll take CMS like CMSMS any day over any static site I have seen sofar.
