Still getting SOAP error. Links to topics do not clarify.
Hi,
Like other people, when I try to upgrade my modules, I get the SOAP Error: Response not of type text/xml error.
Some people say this is a server issue, but do not say what the exact problem is, so I'm unable to contact my provider with useful information.
If I check the System Information page to see if there are any problems with remote URLs, I see the following :
Test for remote URL (test_remote_url):
fsockopen: Connection ok!
fopen: Connection ok!
which leads me to believe that there is no problem with this part.
Anyone out there who knows how to pinpoint the exact problem, and how to solve this ?
BTW, I'm using CMSMS 1.9.4.2
Thanks,
Hans

i tested connection to ModuleManager from an old release last night and had no difficulties. So therefore it's some issue with the server. However, since you're running an old version of CMSMS there is nothing we can do to help.'

Re: Still getting SOAP error. Links to topics do not clarify
Thanks Calguy,
Fair enough. I just upgraded to 1.10.3 and don't have this problem anymore.
Did have another one though, when upgrading modules. It turns out my provider has compiled PHP with --disable-xmlreader. This causes a Class 'XMLReader' not found when trying to upgrade modules.
I solved this locally on my testsite by installing php-xml. Now the upgrade works...
I will try to get my provider to install a default copy of PHP with XMLReader enabled, but if this fails, would a valid workaround be to do all module upgrades on my local server and then ftp the cmsms tree to the live site location ? Or will I get into trouble anyway with other things if my provider refuses to enable XMLReader ?
Thanks,
Hans

Sounds like you have a bad host.
a: Can't connect to our soap server, where others can at the same time.
b: No capability to parse XML files using the PHP built in mechanism
If I were you I'd seriously consider moving hosts, or at least demanding that they fix their servers.
