[SOLVED]Control editors/groups access to selected pages.

Post by genestevo »

I’m using Top simple nav’ +left subnav + 1 column.
One of the top menu items will be called FRUIT.
The child pages of FRUIT (in side bar navigation) will be Apples; Pears; Bananas; Oranges.
How do I set up user and/or group permissions so that an editor called Mr Apples can only add to, or edit, the Apples page and its associated children.
I.e. when Mr Apples logs into his account his Content>>Pages only shows Apples and its child pages.
I’ve been considering using multiple installs and external links but there must be an easier, less clumsy way of doing this.
BTW I’m hoping for something simple as curly brackets outside of a style sheet make my knees go all wobbly. :)
Cheers, Eugene.

This is done using the permissions, make them not able to edit content then make the first page and add them as an editor, something like that...

Thank you so much for that. After a bit of faff it now works a treat. I just add user as an editor and make them the owner of the page.

Easy when you know how isn't it. I can't tell you how many searches I've done trying to solve this.
I can tell you there are endless articles on how to set up cms ms permissions out there but none I've found covered this simple topic.

My next question will relate to specifying upload/image folders but I'll have a go myself first and re-post if I can't work it out.
Thanks again,
Eugene.

Sorry Daniel, I couldn't figure it out so I posted an new question.
Sadly nobody replied.
If you figure it out let me know. I'm thinking of multiple installations. This would save an awful lot of faff though I suppose this idea would draw scorn from those who know better :)
Cheers,
Eugene.
