Updating 1.5.4 Carolina to new version

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Updating 1.5.4 Carolina to new version

Post by eppesen »

Hi guys,
I am wondering about upgrading my web from 1.5.4 "Carolina" to a newer version.
1. What do I gain by updating?
2. How do I do it, and keeping news and all settings in new version ?

1: you'll gain security and prevent problems with a cms that's not compatible with the current php-version
2: read

You'll also see a lot of new features and less bugs. But most important is the security, there are known security leaks in older CMS MS versions, it will be a matter of time before some hacker uses one.

1) create a full backup (database and files) and test it.
2) upgrade to 1.9.3.4
3) upgrade all your modules to the latest version
4) upgrade to 1.10.3
5) upgrade all modules again
