From what i can gather i am sure there is a perfectly simple answer to this (i just can't find it).
I have taken over the updating of a site for a friend as i have done some web stuff before, however, i have never done it from a CMS package like this, whether the previous guy had done it in a clever way or just messed it around i don't know.
Basically i cannot seem to add any new pages so they fit in with the design, modules seem to be missing (which i know they can't be) which i suspect would enable me to add other menu bits in. i don't mind redesigning the back end just as long as the front end doesn't get changed.
the website is www.gerrardshair.com
any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: newbie help urgently required
You will have to be more specific as to what the problem is, do you get an error if so what is it, etc...
That is a really old install, it has all the performance calls in the bottom of the page source, the host may have updated the PHP so you would maybe need to upgrade it to get some functionality back...

Hi Dr.CSS
That's a great help, as i had no clue where to start. now i need to find out who is hosting the website and then upgrade the version of CMS.
I can then come back to you with specifics, i don't suppose there is much point in discussing now until i am up to the latest version.
there will be a delay but i will get back to you when i have something.
best regards.
of course any further comments greatly appreciated.

Just make sure to read and follow the Recommended Upgrade Procedure (scroll down a little bit). Good luck!

Hi,
Thanks for your help a few months ago, basically, the guy hosting the website wouldn't let me do the upgrade so i have setup my own hosting with the latest version of CMSMS.
my question to you now is how on earth do you transfer a website from one host to another with as little downtime as possible?
many thanks

Re: newbie help urgently required
Your best bet is to actually clone the old site and upgrade that, rather then trying to import an old site to a new install.
