Upgrade from 1.8.1

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Upgrade from 1.8.1

Post by JM6891 »

Hi there

I have a site which is currently running 1.8.1 and I'm trying to upgrade it - in stages as the documentation says.

So first, on my development server, I tried to upgrade from 1.8.1 to 1.9 which appeared to go successfully. I didn't get any errors at all.

In my admin panel I go to each page and all content appears to be there. However, when I view the website, the content which has been entered through admin is not showing at all.

Has anyone else experienced this? So glad I'm only on a development server!!

It might be worth noting that my development server is successfully running all kinds of cmsms versions right up to the latest version.

Did you look to make sure all your 3rd party modules are up to date, in Module manager...

Thanks for your reply. The only ones in Module Manager which showed up were FormBuilder and TinyMCE.

Upgraded both of those and still no joy.

I presume you ran the install/upgrade.php script after each major version upgrade. Is your config file writable ? Check your Apache error logs if that is what it is running on. Also check the permissions on the tmp, modules and uploads directories. Check the url and paths in the config file.

I believe there is an error stopping the modules count somewhere. Try viewing page source while in Module Manager. There should be an error hidden there.

This is the first upgrade I've done, so yes. All the correct directories and files are writable.

Thank you for your replies, I will check the module manager for errors tomorrow. Have u experienced this before then? Can you remember what the error said?

There are a few different types of errors if a module is not compatible with cmsms 1.10.x. The important thing is that usually you identify the module/s giving the errors, so it's easier to solve.

Thanks for your reply, however I'm not upgrading to 1.10.x (yet) I'm still on the first stage of upgrading from 1.8.1 to 1.9.

I checked the module manager however there are no errors being displayed for anything.
