<solved>plural words included in search results?

Post by RyanC »

Hi, is there a way to get the search module to return results when plural words are entered?

For example I have several pages that have the word "star" on them. If someone were to search for the word "stars", however, they would not get any results. Is there a way to change this, other than hiding the word "Stars" on every page that has the word "Star" on it?

Thanks

edit: answered my own question. Had to select "use word stemming" in the search module options.

I have this problem but in Polish this option doesn't work.

We’re using serach module (v.1.6.10)

We’re polish and this module Is being used with polish language. In our language there are used changes in word’s endings depending on context. For example word ‘car’
In PL it’s ‘samochód’
But plural - ‘cars’ are ‘samochody’
And ‘car’s’ is ‘samochodów’
It’s kinda like that, I hope you understand what I’m trying to tell 

The point is that search module of your creation is somehow unable to search for variations of words. (simply adding ‘s’ at the end is just not enough)

For example the site we’re currently working on: http://www.amed.pl/
When you search ‘sterylizatory’ – plural form (one of the menu positions) there are results
But when you search ‘sterylizator’ there’s none.

I suppose it should work like in excel - name*.

If you’ll be able an willfull to help us, we’d be very gratefull.
