News category vs. detail page

Hello,

My question is, how does the News module know, in which page to open the news belonging to specific category? My english news ("en" news category) open in english section of the page, swedish ones in swedish etc.

The reason I'm asking is because I'd like to change the default page for each of the languages.

Edit: I'm using internal pretty urls, and I'd just just like to know how it's possible for the module, if the url contains only category and news ids and the title, whereas target page is not specified anywhere.
