cmsmailer, wamp and gmail

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

I'm using 1.10 cmsms release
WampServer Version 2.2

My question is has anyone got the cmsmailer to work with wamp and gmail? I know I hoping for a lot... ::)

Thank you.

I would test it first using sendmail to see if it will send anything out, then try the other way...

Hi,

EDIT: If you can't get sendail to work, then you could try SMTP...

I hadn't tried using a gmail account with CMSMailer SMTP, but I just did a quick test and it seemed to work. So, below is a USE AT YOUR OWN RISK example of my experiment. You'll need to review the following settings and adjust them to do what you need for your situation.

Go to the Admin console Extensions » CMSMailer page then...
Mailer method: SMTP
SMTP Host: stmp.gmail.com
Encryption mechanism: SSL
Port of SMTP server: 465
From address: your_gmail_account_name@gmail.com
From Username: Your Friendly Neighborhood CMSMS Site
SMTP Authentication: checked
Username: your_gmail_account_name@gmail.com
Password: your gmail account password
Adjust these settings (and any other CMSMailer settings) as needed for your situation.

Hope this helps,
Fred P.

If a default sendmail try doesn't work you may not have all of the things you need to do a mail from your site, is why I asked about testing the sendmail option...

I tried and tried but nothing worked using wamp.
Now I switched to hMailServer and SquirrelMail to do my offline/localhost testing - it worked great with cmsmailer.

If everyone wants to do this then view video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K99lmchhy2g

Also make sure to change on the hmailserver->administrator->Settings->Advanced->IP Ranges->My Computer->Priority=30 or SquirrelMail will get 'ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server'

Localhost Server - Completely

A week ago I installed a localhost version of this website for development. Uniserver is the right localhost it has a mail server which most wamps don't unless you install a separate hMail or something. Well, Uniserver has a email server already integal to the install. WOW it works all the time!!! Finally a answer to my prays. http://www.uniformserver.com/ ;D

So this one is solved?

Would you be so kind to add [solved] in front of the title of the first post, as per http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8692
