[Solved]Upgrading to 1.10.2 from 1.9.4.2 or 1.9.4.1

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[Solved]Upgrading to 1.10.2 from 1.9.4.2 or 1.9.4.1

Post by jasnick »

I'm having no trouble upgrading from 1.9.4.3 but I have sites still using 1.9.4.2 and 1.9.4.1.

In the latest Announcements, it says to first upgrade these to 1.9.4.3.

I am used to using Softacuous for upgrading. Can someone please run me through the process of using the files in the Forge for upgrading to 1.9.4.3. For a start, which package should I use and how do I do it?

Thank you.

You should just download the 1.9.4.3 full package (or the english package in combination with the language packages you want), and upload the files to your webhost so they overwrite the current files. That's all.
Sometimes there's also a "diff" package, this package contains only the files that are changed. For example if there's a "1.9.4.1 to 1.9.4.3 diff" package, you can use this to upgrade your 1.9.4.1 install. The result will be exactly the same, only the download is much smaller, so it's slightly faster.
Oh and just to state out the obvious: MAKE A FULL BACKUP! Before you begin upgrading anything!

If you upgrade from 1.9 to 1.10, there will also be an upgrade process, that looks somewhat like the install process. The admin panel will give a message about this after you uploaded the files. You can just click it and walk through it.

Thanks mcDavid - that sounds fairly staightforward. Once I have all my sites at 1.9.4.3 then I can just use Sotaculous.

Thanks again!
