[solved] Fresh install - new pages not showing

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[solved] Fresh install - new pages not showing

Post by NikNak »

Hi

I have just moved to a new host - webfaction.

A fresh install of 1.9.4.2 seems to install fine - with all the requirements ticked. However, as soon as you go to create a page, it doesn't show up in the 'pages' admin panel - nor if you duplicate the default home page.

I have tried a fresh installation with PHP 5.3.5 and PHP 5.2.11 and both had the same problem.

MYSQL Server version: 5.0.77
Protocol version: 10
MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)

The new pages are being created in the database, they are just not being shown in the admin area - or the front end for that matter.

Using the same install file works fine on a different budget server (way to slow though).

I don't know what else to try?

HELP! :-(

Thanks

Nik

Have you set the servers time when installing?...

I set the timezone, but not the time - not sure what you mean.

The server is in Amsterdam - and I am in London.

In the config it has $config['timezone'] = 'Europe/London';

I just tried importing the sql from the install that worked on the budget server to the install that didnt work on webfaction. This has fixed it - but I cant do that for every install. I wonder what the problem is. :-(

You need to set that to the time zone the server is in not your time zone...

Thanks Dr CSS

That seems to have worked - but how do I now get local times in entries like news?

:-)

Thanks Dr CSS -

Maybe I'm being thick, but the only time modification I can see in the site admin is strftime. This wont help me though surely.

Surely I need all the timestamps to be relevant to my own location not the servers.

Sorry - Im a bit confused now.

N

[edit - surely this is doubly important for calendar events]

Hi again

I cant seem to get to the bottom of this.
I need to have the local time set for events and news, rather than the server local time.

If I have to use the server location at install, how do I then correct for the time difference, so that the correct timestamps are created for my location?

Many thanks for your help.

Nik

[EDIT - I have moved the timezone question to a new thread here http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/viewtopi ... =8&t=55883 ]
