[solved] 1.9.4.2 upgrade: "Fatal error: Class 'cms_config'"

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[solved] 1.9.4.2 upgrade: "Fatal error: Class 'cms_config'"

Post by nathangaitch »

Hello, I'm upgrading to 1.9.4.2, as the version I was using before was having some glitches with various warnings showing at the top of the admin pages.

The error that I am now getting, is that none of the pages will load, either for the site, or for the admin. I'm trying to follow the steps for the upgrade, but I can't get the install pages to load. All I get is a blank white page, with the error message:

Code: Select all

Fatal error: Class 'cms_config' not found in /home/***/public_html/lib/classes/class.global.inc.php on line 336
(where *** is the name of the username in my hosting package - deleted for security here!)

I'm not a programmer, and too much technical talk will make me burst into tears, but if anyone can help me with this problem, in very simple language, I would be very grateful, as my website is now down, and I can't get it back up.

With many thanks in advance for your time and efforts,
Nathan

Re: 1.9.4.2 upgrade problems: "Fatal error: Class... [SOLVED

It seems it was an issue with CGextensions. Once I had deleted the module, then manually installed it again, (couldn't use module manager, as admin site was also buggered!) using FTP to delete the CGextensions folder, then download new version from the forge and FTP it into the modules folder of the site, one refresh later, and all was happy again. Phew! If anyone else is struggling with this problem, I hope this helps.

Thanks to anyone who took the time to read my post. Your efforts mean a lot to a layman like me!

Best wishes,

Nathan
