[SOLVED] Paid membership not working, FrontendUser module

Post by Lahuindai »

Hello All,

I hope somebody can help me soon as we are nearing release of the site and paid membership is not working. All the settings from the System Information page is posted below.

One of the issues I am experiencing is that under Frontend User Management / Options I deselect "Require membership in atleast one group" and submit, but it does not update. I have checked through the database and files on the server for a place to manually update the setting but have not found it anywhere.

I believe that things will work once I get this changed as the rest is setup and Paypal Gateway is configured as per other posts.

Please help ...

Gary

AFAIK, there is no way to deselect that option. Why do you want to have users who don't belong to a group?

Might be that i'm dreaming and that you have a valid point. What i'm experiencing is the following; After registration it does not allow me to select a paid package, but just registeres the new user and goes back to the registration page.

My settings are as follows

FEU - Preferences
Authentication Module/Method: FEU Statndard
Automatically Create Unknown Users: No
Allow users to login more than once: Unchecked
Require membership in atleast one group: checked
Default Group for new users: None
Default user expiry period: 12
Generate random username when adding new users: Unchecked
Use Front-end User specific permissions?: Yes

FEU - Builtin Authentication
Ecommerce Settings:
Listen to Order Events: Yes
Action to perform when a subscription order is cancelled: Delete User
Action to perform when a subscription order is deleted: Delete User

E-Commerce - Order Manager
General Settings:
Allow anonymous users to checkout: Yes
Allow Users to Checkout Without a Payment Gateway: No
Require that all users that procede to the order stage be a member in this FEU Group: None
Page to assume that the billing form will be displayed on. This is usually the page with your {Orders} tag. Payment Page (With Orders Tag)
Page to use for the confirmation form: none
Page to use for the payment form: none

Payment Gateway Settings:
Description to send to the payment gateway: Has a description
Credit Card Processing Gateway: None

Paypal Gateway
IPN is setup with the correct url in paypal and all fields populated in the module.

I'm not sure I understand the problem. You say:
After registration it does not allow me to select a paid package, but just registeres the new user and goes back to the registration page.
Surely, the normal sequence would be to select a paid package and then register, not select a package *after* registration?

In any case, if what you are trying to do is paid registration without a recurring subscription (i.e. an anonymous user registers and pays once, e.g. for one year's access), then my conclusion is that, unfortunately, this is not currently possible with the Self-Registration module. I believe the module allows paid registration with a subscription, but not a one-time paid registration. I asked about this myself a while back (http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/viewtopi ... 85#p255085) but haven't been able to solve the problem.

However, I'm happy to be put right if anyone knows the answer. ;)

It seems to work either way. If you specify a group=<groupname> in the tag the registration process is fill in the details, then select the paid package or the other way around if you do not specify a group name.

I have it going that far now but after registration, it returns to the beginning. I do want recurring subscriptions and certainly don't want them to be anonymous.

Any ideas ?

It is fixed and working. I installed the FRTaxes module and that seems to have done the trick.

Thanks for the suggestions and help.
