Permissions: Can Editor add Additional Editors

Using CMSMS 1.9.4.2

Have studied the default permissions and can't see any way to give an Editor permission to creat Additional Editors without the Editor being an Admin and being able to access Option of a page to add an Additional Editor for a specific page.

Am loathe to make an Editor an Admin as this gives access to everything. However, I need the Editor to be able to add and delete Additional Editors. Is there any way to do this?

IIRC only the 'owner' of the page, or a user with 'Manage All Content' permission can change the additional editors.

Or the editor, IF the BasicProperty "Additional Users" is selected in GlobalSettings. At that moment, the field is selectable from the mainpage.

I have already done the Global Settings and noticed it appeared on the Main page, but thought it didn't when I was logged in as an Editor. I will check it again as I was switching from Admin to Editor to test it and getting very tired!.

I can't get that to work. Have added Additional Editors as a Group. Have selected Additional Editors in Global Settings: This field allows you to specify which content properties that users without the "Manage All Content" permission are allowed to edit.

I have given Editor the following permisions:
Add users
Modify Users
Remove Users
Add News
Approve News
Delete News
Modify any page
Modify files
Modify News

Note: Manage all content not included. This results in no Options page and no Additional Editors box on Main for Editor (which I can see now on Main when logged in as Admin.)

If I include Manage all content for Editor, Editor gets an Options page BUT it has no Additional Editors box or place to add one. Probably because of the Global Settings?

So I am at a loss as to what to do. Also, having now selected Additional Editors in Global Settings/Content Editing Settings/ I don't see how to deselect it either!!!

Have tried adding Modify Group Assignments/Permissions to no avail.It shouldn't be this hard. I just want Editor to be able to select the name of an Additional Editor for specific pages. As far as I can see, using Global Settings just places the Additional Editors box on Main instead of Options which is good from Admin point of view, so why can't this work also for Editor? Is there some setting for Editor that I have mssed?

There is no specific setting required for that.

De-selection is done via CTRL and then select line.

Basically with that line set, the additional-editors box should show on the main-tab, regardless of the other permissions.

There is no need for specific group/assignments etc....

The only time the Additional Editors box shows up in Main is when I am logged in as Admin with Global Settings enabled.

When I log in as Editor, not only does it not appear in Main, but I don't even get the Options option as in Main/Option/Preview - it is just Main/Preview. This is correct behaviour I think - Modify Any Page does not give the Options tab.

I have given Editor the following permissions:
Add, Modify and Remove Users
Add, Modify, Approve, Delete News
Modify any Page/Files

If I open a Page as Editor, there is no Additional Editors box anywhere. Only if I log in as Admin.

I have deleted Additional Editors as a Group. I am beginning to think it is just not possible.

I meant to say, that WITH the "Additional Editor" line selected in GlobalSettings, that from then on, the box will appear on the main-tab. I just tested in 1.9-series, and that works like that.

Yes - but only for an Admin, not for an Editor which is what I need.

How do I make that work for an Editor?

that is what I meant... In my set, the additional editor box is showing on the main-tab for ALL, when selected in GlobalSettings. That is regardless of the group they are in....

So I must not have set a necessary permission for Editor? What settings have you set for an Editor that allows Editor to see the Additional Editors box?

I went to another of my sites that has only me as admin and added a user and added "user" to the Editor group. I didn't add anything else to the permissions. I did the Global Settings change. I then logged in as "user" and opened a page for editing. No additional editors box either in Main or Options. I went back as admin and changed the user (editor) permission from Manage all Content to Modify any Page. Still no additional editors box.
