Editing a page changes the page alias after upgrading

Post by krussell »

Using: CMSMS Version: 1.9.2, PHP: 5.2.12

I recently upgraded to V1.9.2. Since the upgrade, one of my existing users has discovered that when he edits a page and saves the changes, "-2" is appended to the page alias (i.e. "my-page-alias" becomes "my-page-alias-2". Before the upgrade the user could also see the "Options" tab when editing pages, but now can only see the "Main" and "Preview" tab.

The user has various permissions assigned, but these include permission to add or remove pages and modify any page. None of the existing user groups or permissions have been modified since I upgraded.

I have had a search in the forum, but failed to find any related posts. Can anyone shed any light on the cause of this problem, please?

Haven't solved this yet, but a further update on the problem:

I have discovered that the "-2" appended to the page alias is removed if the page is saved again.
The alias state will continue to toggle each time the page is saved, i.e. it toggles between "alias" and "alias-2" with subsequent edits.

The problem is related to user permissions in some way. If I create a test user and assign it to a group will all permissions, I can use this user to successfully edit a page without changing the alias. I am going to selectively remove permissions until I discover the cause of the issue, but have not had time to do this yet.
