A few starter questions

Post by felixSchl »

Hello,

I am a Cmsms user for about 3 hours now and I must say it looks very promising so far. It feels quite different from other CMS systems but in a positive way.

Distant goal is to create a library of documents. However, there are a few things I could use some help with.

Things I would like to know how to do, but couldn't find out myself:
  • Categorizing content: I am using the catalogue module at the moment, just wondering what the general opinion is on using that.
  • Custom content types: I would like to add custom fields to my pages, such as "contributers" or "author(actual book author)". Valid values should be stored in a table so you can choose from those values in a multi select field when adding a document to the library.
  • Custom queries: I guess this goes hand in hand with the one above. Custom queries for custom fields. It would be nice to search for "contributers", "authors" etc.
  • Multi-language support: Don't feel obliged to answer this one, after hours of googling I gave up hope that there is sophisticated solution out there. Right?
I hope I explained my problems well and can get some help from you guys.

I am running the latest version of cmsms btw, version 1.9.4.1.

Cheers,
Felix

For your custom content question, try installing the AdvancedContent module. It lets you create radio buttons, dropdowns, etc. that the content editor fills out when editing content.
