tinyMCE issues

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

tinyMCE issues

Post by barry cooper »

Hi,

I have just upgraded from 1.9.2 to 1.9.4.1 and tinyMCE has stopped working. Tried the usual things:
Set folder to 755 and 777
Checked static config
Uninstall - install
Installed an older version
Clear cache

Is there anything else I can try.

Cheers

When you changed the folder permissions did you also set the modyules folder to the same permissions?...

No yellow ! or red X in system info page?...

Most times I set the folders to 755 and it makes it work, and have had to reset all to default in advanced tab....

Did you set the folder permissions recursively?

Hi,

Only nice green ticks -
Not sure what you mean by recursively.

Thanks

Did you set the permissions for all folders and files within the modules/TinyMCE all throughout the folder hierarchy?

Yes I have tried 777 and 755.
Need to do some client training next week so need to get this sorted. Do you have any other ideas?

Every thing is set up correctly - I'm getting the 'Turn WYSIWYG on/off' box but no menu. Please see attachment.

Thanks for your help

One of my clients has just reported this same issue to me today. The site has been working fine and I've made no changes to anything on it for a number of weeks now.

I'm still running v1.6.6 so thought it must be something to do with that but I'm wondering if that's unrelated now as the OP is on the latest version.

I get the same symptoms as the OP has shown in his screen shot with the addition of the 'error on page' warning at the bottom left of IE.

The error message from that is:
Webpage error details

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/4.0; GTB6.6; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; InfoPath.2; .NET4.0C)
Timestamp: Wed, 6 Apr 2011 20:15:28 UTC

Message: 'Button' is null or not an object
Line: 1
Char: 106380
Code: 0
URI: http://<pathtosite>/modules/TinyMCE/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js
I've had a quick check and the .js file is there, and nobody would have been in the guts of the site to make any changes.

I was planning on just reinstalling TinyMCE if I can but does anyone have any other suggestions? (Except upgrading to the latest version - I'm trying to negotiate with the clietn for a good time for their site to be down!)

Thanks.

Having done some more digging around the forum (probably should have done this sooner ::) ) I spotted another post by Dr CSS suggesting going into the Advanced Setting tab of TinyMCE and hitting the Reset to Defaults button.

I did that and it's now all working again so hopefully that will work for the OP too.

This worked for me, except on the Advanced Setting tab I hit the "Reset all settings to defaults" button (underneath the "Reset to Defaults" button).
