Authority to change order of pages

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Authority to change order of pages

Post by crossland »

One of our webmasters has sent me a screenshot that shows that he has the authority to create pages, yet doesn't have the column to change the order of pages. What needs to be added to his profile, so that he can change the order of pages?

Thanks

Maybe the 'Manage All Content' permission?

No. I have the same problem, as outlined in "Current CMSMS versions: users cannot modify page structure??" ...

Seems that the "modify page structure" right has been abolished with version 1.6.x, without any working alternative.

Neither "Modify any page" nor "Manage all Content" do the trick, since they both give the right to modify *everything*.

(BTW: What is the difference between "Modify any page" and "Manage all Content"?)

Cheers,
Alex

I'll look at the code tonight and see if I can find what permission is used for page re-ordering. In most of the code I've looked at, they check for a specific permission before allowing you do do something, not an "If the user is an admin, then allow".

I just created a test account with the "Editor" group. The only permissions given is "Manage All Content" and "Manage News". I was able to re-order pages. Version 1.9.1.

According to the code, it checks for ''Manage All Content" before displaying the reorder link. Can you verify the permissions that your webmaster has?

EDIT: I just noticed that you mentioned the reorder 'column'... I'm looking at that now. Does he have the 'Reorder Pages' link at the bottom?

My test account gets the reorder column as well. The up and down arrows are shown if the user has 'Remove Pages', 'Manage All Content' or 'Modify Any Page'.

Hi,

I have the same problem.
Sitestructure:
Menu 1
----------Menu 1.1
-------------Menu 1.1.1
----------Menu 1.2
If a user is only allowed to modify subpages, Menu 1.1, Menu 1.2 etc., it's not possible to move for example Menu 1.2 before Menu 1.1

That'a only possible if the user can "manage all content" or "modify all content" and that is not wanted. If the user can only "remove all pages" it's not possible to change structure.

CMSMS 1.9.3

That is the problem.

This webmaster has access to some areas, but not all.
He is creating content and wants to arrange the content that he is creating.
Is there anyway to let him do this, without giving him "manage all content"?

Exactly. Same here, with several installations.

It's not a bug, it's a feature :P

Message:
Hello,

This is a feature of this permission setting.
The user can change the content of the pages not the structure itself.
So it is not a bug.

You could try to put in a Future Request
