Parce Error in installing

Hello. When I try to enter the Installation Wizard I get this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in /home/arquitrave/domains/arquitrave.com/public_html/cmsms/index.php on line 85

I am aware that this problems is solved in this topic:

The solution is to add some atributes to the file .htaccess

I'm sorry but I am new at this; I know there is a copy of the file in /docs but I don't know where to put the atributes they say. And should I move the file to the root?

Sorry for the newb question but I am stuck here.

.htaccess goes to the root (parent directory). The file inside /doc is an example only.
