[SOLVED with 1.94] CMSms 1.9.3 and Tiny MCE

Post by twwitt »

Don't know if my problem is related to yours or not. But ever since upgrading to 1.93 I haven't been able to see files (e.g. PDFs) recently uploaded when I use TinyMCE's insert/edit link interface -- the files don't show up right away (older ones are there, but not newly uploaded files). Sometimes they do if I log out and refresh, but not always.

I experienced the same behavior on 2 different servers, one is an upgrade from 1.9.2, the other is a fresh install of 1.9.3.

- Images don't show up in Tiny that have previously been uploaded via ImageManager (with the img button)
- Files don't show up in Tiny that have previously been uploaded via FileManager (with the link button)
- If you log out and in again, the files finally show up
- Tiny doesn't seem to save my settings, f.ex I have chosen to use BR instead of P for line breaks, it still does P in the actual content editing
- I've selected the Plugin gallery_picker to show in Tiny, but it doesn't work (worked with 1.9.2)
- I've customised my "Backend profile settings" toolbars 1 and 2, these changes do not show up either

Does anyone have a solution for this? Or should we install an older version of Tiny meanwhile?

I got the same problem... Refreshing the site helps (during editing - just hit F5 or other REFRESH button) - page reloads and everything is showing up correctly (new files, new page structure in CMS-MS quick-links plugin). But that is pretty annoying.

Does anyone knows anything about TinyMCE caching system? Can it be changed or "controlled" somehow?

I also had problems with TinyMCE 1.8.2 and 1.8.3 which come with CMSMS 1.9.2 and 1.9.3 respectively.

I uninstalled it and replaced it with a later version tinyMCE 1.7.3 I found in cmsms forge.

My problems are gone.It may be a quick solution waiting for a new version of TinyMCE.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm a bit confused by the numbers, though. It seems to me like the latest version available in the forge is 2.7.3, and I can see releases going back to 2.0.5. Exactly which version are you suggesting that has worked well with CMSMS 1.9.3?

In the TinyMCE prefs, under 'advanced', you can choose to "use static config file", this will disable caching of the tiny config and may eliminate some/all of the issues you're seeing.

Do you mean 2.7.3 (as a opposed to 1.7.3?). 2.7.3 is the version that I currently have installed with CMSMS 1.93. That's the version I'm having problems with (since installing 1.93).

This has everything to do with caching of pages in the browser. Look at my post in the 1.9.3 release notification posting.

Do you mean this post? http://www.cmsmadesimple.org/cgblog/871 ... ple-1-9-3/. If not, where?

I have read the above post but still do not know how to solve my TinyMCE problem. Can't tell if you're saying this a bug, or whether I have an incorrect setting relating to page caching. I guess my question is: Is there is a quick way for you to explain how I meet see In TinyMCE (more immediately, without having to log out of Admin) files that have been recently uploaded?

Thanks for clarification. Good to know (I guess) that others are having similar problems, but haven't been able to fix it yet.
I've disabled the browser caching (in Site Admin/Global/Advanced), uninstalled Tiny and re-installed, changed permissions, etc.
Still have same problem of images recently downloaded not showing up. Can usually get them to show up by logging out and then logging back in....but of course, that's a hassle.

Hope someone will someday find a solution to this...
