CMSMS 1.9.3 MySQL 5.5.8 CSS issue

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

CMSMS 1.9.3 MySQL 5.5.8 CSS issue

Post by enigma7 »

I've a problem with regular working of version 1.9.3 on MYSQL 5.5.8
For the first issue - problem with summary of news i found an answer http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/viewtopi ... =3&t=50569
But the second problem is no themes. No CSS no images, everything is white and unformatted. I also it checked this with 1.9.2 and 1.8.2 - always this same.
I read here that the problem is MYSQL version. I asked my provider if they could change it to a lower version. They couldn't.

Is there any other solution for this problem???

Is it final that CMS MS won't work with MySQL 5.5.8?

I got this issue on my hosting, i can't choose mysql version. FrontEndUsers installer doesn't work, it's TYPE=MyISAM issue (switching to ENGINE=MyISAM in code - and then it works fine). Somebody was talking about new AdoDB that could resolve the problem - but it seems not - i'm using the newest cms 1.9.3, newest modules - and still problems...

Maybe, if this is official - this should be sticked somewhere visible...? :(

Hey jce76350,
I got one more question about "cms ms 1.9.3 not working with mySQL 5.5.8". Do you know some more details about it? I'm in that issue for a week now, and only found that creating tables goes wrong (ENGINE=myISAM instead of TYPE=myISAM solves the problem). Didn't find anything more that doesn't work. I've been reading some mySQL documentations, reading forums and stuff - have you found any more places, where this sql sever crushes the CMS?

PS1 - documentation with mySql4.1+... documentation is always a nasty thing in programming... ;) But I'm thinking about creating a forum topic or some visible info in cmsmadesimple.org site, just to avoid people getting problems... if it's "official" that CMS MS and mySQL 5.5.8 don't work together, isn't it a big news? It took quite a few hours for me to debug that problem... :-\

PS2 - i've talked to one sql-administrator and he said to me that "ENGINE" instead of "TYPE" is the new trend and suggestion for SQL future. I couldn't understand why breaking the backwards compatibilty could be "new trend"... Do you guys have any thoughts about it?

That's exactly what i did before - and it worked fine for me (even posted it on the forum in some topic).

I was just asking before - because I saw your post "CMS 1.9.3 is not working with mySQL 5.5.8" - is there any more points of "not working", except the installer?
