Solved ModuleManager fails to load, server errors out

Post by Joesurf »

Has something happened to the module repository used by version 1.8 and 1.9 ?

Suddenly - All of my CMS sites are experiencing the same server error when accessing the module manager.

I have never experienced this problem previously.

moduleinterface.php?sp_=22ab37b1&module=ModuleManager fails to load.

Any help is appreciated.

Joe

Server API (server_api):

When upgrading from 1.9.3 to 1.9.4 the ModuleManager came back to life on the GoDaddy servers. However you will need to download this patch to get it working:

I installed 1.9.3 (PHP 5.2.14) earlier this week and the Module Manager is not working for me either. I am able to work around it by uploading an XML file from the Module page, but the Module Manager fails to load and I also get a server error.

This appears to be a timeout issue with the server but I have yet to find a setting that will fix it.

My latest error:
Safari can’t open the page “http://www.california-fly-fishing.org/G ... uleManager” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again.

I just tested from 3 different sites on 3 different hosts (my localhost and 2 remote ones) and have had no problems. So therefore it's probably something on your end.

if your host has instituted a firewall, or changed PHP settings to not allow outgoing connections then you would have this problem.

The system information page (Site Admin >> System Information) should tell you if the PHP settings have changed) but may not tell you about external firewalls doing further filtering.

Just wanted to throw in my two cent observation on this one.

Any of my client's CMS Made Simple sites, which are running on a GoDaddy server, the Module Manager has stopped working regardless of the CMSMS version.

Any of my clients running WordPress on GoDaddy can still use the WP plugin panel to install and upgrade plugins from the remote WordPress Plugins Repository http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/...

Any of my clients using other hosts, like Flexiss.net, can still use the CMSMS Module Manger just fine.

The PHP settings in CMSMS System Information are all checked for outgoing connections.
