How to... preformatted styles/templates in FCKeditorX ?

Post by rodeto »

I recently started using CMS MS and things go pretty well for me. An example of the site that I am working on right now can be seen here.
I have a question about FCKeditorX. I tried to find the answer in earlier topics but I couldn't find it.
I would like to make a pre-formatted profile that can be added to the editor in the same way as there are now profiles shown like "header1", "undefined", etc.
I do not want my style added into the stylebox of the editor or add a new template. I have my styles all set in my CSS-file. I do not want to have anything added to my pages by the editor (tags like font, size or line-height).

Can anyone give me a solution for this?

don't know how to do what you are asking,, but i looked at your site, you are the only other person i've seen that uses niftyCubes  :D cool. How did you get the border around the header? i am using the last version of niftyCorners on these and tried to convert to niftyCubes but he says that he dropped the borders and i couldn't get them to work with Cubes.

The border around the header is inserted in the image itself  ;)
But what about adding a new niftycube inside another one, just one or two pixels smaller? That will give a neat border.

Too bad you can't help me with the text layout.

AH text layout was what you were looking for, that sounds like some thing you can do with CSS, if you give your div or p a class it can be handled that way. what exactly are you trying to style?
i guess i could try double 'cubes' to get my borders with one having a diff. backgrond color, if you look under Rounded w/o Images you see a few with the dbl. box border but those edges are bigger than just a line.

The problem in my opinion is that the editor automatically ads somekind of preformatted style to the text (those are not the styles or templates that are spoken about in the user guide). That also includes all kinds of tags like font=2  etc. I dont want that. I want my pages clean.
I have formatted all kinds of css classes etc but I need to find out how I use the fckeditor without that preformatted styles.

The templates that I am talking about are the ones that appear in the second box from the left. Can't figure out what the name for that is in English  ???

maksbud , about the edges, try a margin of 1 px..

what version are you using? i've always had to tell it to format (this the word you looking for?) the text otherwise it comes out as not or any other style applied,, i think the text and other font=2 things are a little dated, have you tried the 'tintMCE' editor it looks more like newer editors, but it was messing with my adding things to the source view would change things like  ( ' ) to  &qte;

i'll try the 1px margin trick, the niftyCorners needed 5px on the top and bottom but he did mention that Cubes leaves margin padding alone, i'll let you know how it works out, one reason it might not be working on those pages, i only have background color on the white boxes.

I have CMS Made Simple 0.13-beta2 and FCKeditorX 1.0 RC1.

I will have a look at the 'tintMCE'

Thanks Mark

if you want to put content in page w/o any formating and the FCKeditorX is messing with you, the other thing to do is goto  My Prefs » User Preferences and change it to no wysiwyg editor.

I wish I coud have predetermined format fordifferents editors of my site.

We want to perform collaborative writing, and each author uses a personal [font-size-aspect-color] set.

What I'm willing, is that a predefined option in a pullout menu. May be the styles one ?
Or maybe added in the Format one.

The idea is that when Peter, Paul or Mary creates o modify a page, he choose the "Peter" option and all what he writes /selected  would be in his personnel format set without depressing several buttons each time.

Any clue about how to do that ?

Thanks a lot

Pik, the man who asked  ;)
