[SOLVED]Installation - "Parse error" on attempt to begin

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[SOLVED]Installation - "Parse error" on attempt to begin

Post by frank4360 »

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in /hsphere/local/home/portvend/med-and-mountain.com/CMSmadesimple/index.php on line 85

I have uploaded CMS 1.9.2 to my host (using FTP and uncompressing on the host site).

Attempting to run the "index.php" file fails with "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in /hsphere/local/home/portvend/med-and-mountain.com/CMSmadesimple/index.php on line 85"

A similar problem occurs when I try to run the "pathname/install/index.php"

Any ideas?

After a lot of checking I find thet IX Web Hosting, my server host, has been hosting my sites on PHP 5.1.2, not 5.2.x.

Could this be the problem?

I have found references on the internet which suggest that the version of PHP is definitely causing the problem; see

I have notified my host and I will be moved to a server supporting PHP 5.2.14
