Ive set a 'page_extension' as .html so the server append that extension to every url on a site. But then i asked myself if i could reach the content also in the original url set under page options (ive ticked the option under site tab to force page url field to be filled for every new page). And apparently it works so any page seems to be reachable from:

http:\\www.mydomain.com\my-page.html
(for me localhost/my-page.html)
and

http:\\www.mydomain.com\my-page
(for me localhost/my-page)

Im still working the design in xampp so i cannot be sure of real duplicity until i upload the web and still has lot of work prior to that. So i decided to ask here if someone knows if my guess is correct.

In that case would be better to leave that config.php option untouched with no 'page_extension' value.

My interest in this is only seo so maybe im wasting my time for some unproven fact that a page is better under a pretty url ending in a extension like .html that without any extension at all.

Yes you can reach a page by typing it in w/o the extension and get the same page as the one with the extension, BUT no spider bot from google or any other search engine is going to try finding the pages w/o the extension, they just follow links in the site to the pages of the site and no visitor is going to try pages by typing them in w/o the extension...

So no worries...

Enough for me, i suppose that i should have been more practical when thinking about this, as you say, bot wont lose its time playing TURLTRIS (some kind mix of tetris and urls) to get points for every url it finds

Because in this case (news with pretty url activated) maybe its me again not being practical but bot will, as you say, follow links and reach news detail page and then find there is always a canonical tag telling him to use a completely different url, then search engine show that url on the index and not the pretty one, and any visitor coming from search engine will try to enter using an url that should not be using. I really dont know if i have found some inconsistency or maybe its me missconfiguring. If you find a moment to consider it, would be nice to have your opinion on this.
