Video Streaming Solution - any ideas or suggestions?

I would like to help a local church to post their services on the CMS website.

The idea would be to take the video file from a digital camera and upload it to the website for off site viewing.

What would be the best way to accomplish this without too much hassle as the upkeep would not be managed by the webmaster?

What codec to convert the files to so it provides the greates compatibility accross the browser platforms, yet keep the file size relatively small for online streaming?
