Default Options for Pages

Hello all,
I have recently started using mscms ver 0.12.1 "Savusavu" with Cataloger 0.2.
What I would like to do is have a setting where I could default all Catalog Items to not be shown in menu.
Could this be done via a setting or will it need coding? If it is in code, can somebody give a pointer to where I should look in the code?

Hi I also would like to know how to set cataloger items to not appear in the menu. I'd the like the categories to appear but not the items but I don't see an option.  Is this easily done or not?  Thanks
