[SOLVED] How to move a website from a /temp folder to the root

I'm using CMSMS 1.8.2 While I was creating this site, I used a temp folder to house the site until it was ready to go to the live site in the root folder. So, the database information should be ok.

The question is, what's the best way to move the site up one level to the root folder? Can I just move the files up one level? I'm thinking there will be paths that will be wrong if I do that.

You can simply move the files to the root of the site, then change all the paths in the config.php

Make sure you clear your cache first.

Ok, first I changed the paths in the config. Then I moved the files. I got errors. Thinking I had messed something up, I copied the files back into the temporary folder. Then it seemed to be working, but I noticed when I logged into the admin, it redirected me to admin back into the temp folder; same with all the links in the menu...they revert back to the temp folder. I'm thinking maybe this is the caching issue you were talking about. Are you talking about deleting all of the files in /tmp/cache?

Before moving/copying the files, go to "Site Admin" -> "Advanced Setup" -> "Clear Cache"

Aside from the paths, did you change all the URLs as well?

So, should I remove all the files I put in the root folder and start over by doing the "Site Admin" -> "Advanced Setup" -> "Clear Cache"  step in the temp folder?

I just noticed there's no Advanced setup under Site Admin

Ok, found that and cleared the cache. Should I start over the delete the files from the root and recopy the files from the temp folder into the root?

Go ahead and try. Double check that all references to your temp folder are gone, both the paths and URLs.

All the url should be relative right?

Ensure that all files were copied. Do all files exist in /modules/CGExtensions?

I moved them all and the temp directory is empty.
and I can't get into the admin to do anything or reinstall the cge extensions

Ok, I copied the files all back into the temp folder (/New) and it's at least working again. But I really need to resolve how to move these files so it's reading out of the root. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And Thanks for all your help Wishbone.

Ok, I got the site working from the root. It appears that I had an extra "/" in the config file and I did clear the site cache and removed all files from the root directory before moving the files from the temp folder up.

Now none of the forms are working, like the login and application form. www.hfmadv.org. Those pages loose the css altogether and the form.

On the login and application form pages I get the following error: Truetype-Directory is not readable!

Any ideas?

Regarding the other... search the error message on the forum.. I get many hits when I search "Truetype-Directory not readable"
