Switching Servers

Post by slloyd »

I'm in the process of switching servers. How do I go about switching my cms? Is there an easy way to move my files? Can I just re-enter the database info? If so, how? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Basically, you'll want to copy over all your files. Re-chmod the temp folders, change config.php if needed, and export your database using phpMyAdmin and then re-import it.
Note: I don't have time to take on any more projects. I'm quite busy. I may be too busy to reply to emails or messages. Thanks for your understanding. :)

i used the backup module last night, it worked great just had to copy my 'Content » File Manager'
folders and clear the cache in the 'Site Admin » Global Settings' part, reinstall modules and was up and running within the hour.
the biggest problem i had was that i didn't know about the clear cache thing and all the pages kept showing up as the original default pages, after cache clear it was exactly the same as before the move.

Wouldn't it just be the matter of ftp'ing the files and creating a database with the same name as already esablished? Or, is that the same thing you were saying to do? Sorry. All this stuff is over my head!
