Gallery module 1.4.1 gives "file corupt" error when trying to add an image?

CMSMS 1.8.2 and Gallery 1.4.1

If I try to upload any image using the Add Image link in the Gallery module I receive "File Corupt" error message.

If I upload the same image using the Image Manager it works fine.

Any ideas how to resolve this issue - I want to make it easy for the client to add images to their gallery - therefore upload while in the gallery is preferable to pointing them to the Image Manager.

Someone reported the same issue in the Dutch forum some time ago. Unfortunately we couldn't find what caused it. All we know that it is site related, not to the image.
