Suggestions for client Image Optimisation software

Can anyone suggest software for clients that enable them to simply optimise images before importing them into CMSMS.

I know a new client is going to want to upload loads of images to their soon to be completed site and I just know what is going to happen... each image 1MB+ and the site performance a mess.

If I could advise which software to use, and how to optimise images prior to upload I'm sure it will save me a load of effort in the future. All suggestions greatly received.

The CMSms Gallery module has a built in upload function which supports client side resizing, so images will be automatically resized before they are uploaded.
