upgrading 1.7.1 to 1.8.2 - what about existing modules and plugins?

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

upgrading 1.7.1 to 1.8.2 - what about existing modules and plugins?

Post by lucia22 »

I am about to do an upgrade from 1.7.1 to 1.8.2, I have backed up my database and all the files on the server.

I have read the upgrade.txt file thats in the docs folder of 1.8.2 however it says about copying all the new folders over, obviously this includes the modules, uploads and plugins folder which will overwrite my existing which has the extra added modules and plugins in. How do I ensure I maintain all these modules etc

It will not overwrite the additional modules, plugins, etc. - they will still be there.

It might depend on how you copy. In my experience, FTP (or rsync) will add to, not replace existing directories. Copying in Windows seems to replace them.
