Re: BizBuzz - New Template

Post by fraiquin »

Hi!

Great template - having a lot of fun playing around with it and getting it working. I'm using v.2 of the template and CMS 1.8.2.

All is fine except one thing - the Slider is showing the caption and the navigation overlay all fine, but the background loader is showing instead of the image. See attached image.

When I check out the source html of the page, it shows that the img src is correct - as the file path the source shows goes directly to the image.

Can anyone shed any light on what I've changed in the template/stylesheet to make this happen?

I've checked the z-index of all the elements of the slider and they are all OK.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi

can't say much from screenshot, do you have live example?
As viewing the screenshot i see only blue background no image so loader is correct :-) in the screenshot moment, but it would help to see what exactly is the problem also what have you changed in stylesheet or Template?

PS: sorry for not so easy installation procedure but theme export is messed up for some reason in 1.8.2 (like problems with image import, css paths, 'summary' added to each news summary template name...)

many thanks for your quick response - a live version is available at:

Please don't apologise for the installation - I found it quite useful to have to go into the back end of things to sort it out - gave me a much better understanding!

And thank you so much for a great template - it has really got me into CMSms.

Ok i see where you have problems, run it through validator and you will see your problems: http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1 ... .uk/linda/

You have moved png script to part but   is wrong and should be
You have also moved other scripts at the bottom after tag where it should be right before
Fixing these problems should also fix your image issue.

Thanks again for your quick reply - I've sorted out the code errors (I think I ended up doing too much cutting and pasting whilst playing around), so returned to the default head code from the BizzBuzz template.

Now the images show in the slider in IE on a pc - but I'm still having the same problem of the images not showing in Firefox and Opera on my mac.

It's interesting i can't find anything in css or markup that would cause this problem, could you check permissions on your js and slider image files?

I'm also having the same problem on a localhost install - so I guess its not permissions. I've just tried reverting the stylesheet to the default, and that doesn't solve the problem. It seems strange that the images appear in Internet Explorer but not Firefox or Opera or Safari. (also just checked via iphone and doesn't work on that either.)

Is it worth trying to re-install any scripts/files again?

Many thanks for your help - I'm off to bed now, but hopefully there will be a spark of inspiration tomorrow!

Again many thanks, it is much appreciated.

I see your problem in W7 on Chrome, FF, Safari and Opera and similar problem wasn't reported before and i never experienced it so it must be something with some settings :-)

Sorry to be a pain - but whilst you're having a poke around - on the About Me page I've activated the sidebar and display the news categories - however when you click it category it returns a 404 - I'm assuming I've missed something simple.

@fariquin i have created new sub gallery named "slider" uploaded 2 pictures and assigned this "slider" gallery to "home" page, the slider works, so the problem that your slider isn't working could be that pictures got corrupted when uploading, also these are stretched, the cause could be that you uploaded to small images, smaller than width of the slider?

Problem with categories was {cms_module module='News' action='browsecat' detailpage='news'} i removed detailpage='news' entry and categories work, my failure on exporting the theme  :) if you would have "news" page this would work.

You are a star - Thank you so much - the images were just test ones that I resized quickly to see if it would work.

Again thanks - I'm so impressed by the theme and how it works. You are a top man.

Actually you don't have to resize anything for slider, this is done by SuperSizer plugin made by JeremyBass http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 094.0.html follow the link if you need any fine settings for your slide.

I've just downloaded your newer template version and have a simple question.  Where do I install the Advanced Content module?

I've tried opening the compressed file in the "Modules" folder on the server but nothing shows in the Content drop down.  The Advanced Content module doesn't show under the Module Manager so there is no way to install the module from there.  I've tried the Wiki and every place else I can to find installation instructions but came up empty.

Could anyone tell me what I am not doing correctly?  I got the previous version of this template working great.  I'm trying to learn more by trying this new version and any help will be appreciated.
