CGFeedback limit on comments question

Post by kms »

When I add a limit to the number of comments displayed on CGFeedback summary, I get nice little arrows to go to the next set of comments. When I go to the next set of comments, the blog entry disappears, all I have is the next set of comments on the page. Even when I go back to the first set, the blog entry s gone, just comments show. How do I scroll through the comments but keep the blog entry on the page?

Is there maybe a template to modify when you limit the number of comments that display? I can;t find anything. I just want to stay on he same blog entry page when the visitor clicks to go to h next set of comments.  You know, how you have your blog entry at the top of the page, then you get to the comments displaying 1-x, then when you click the arrow to go to the next set of comments x-x?  On most blogs I have seen it just refreshes the comment section, you don;t go to a whole new page without the blog entry. That is the problem I am having, I lose the blog entry and just wind up with a page of comments. Any ideas?

OK, well in the summary template I can see where these links for 'next' and 'previous' comments are created, like this:

Lang('lbl_goto_firstpage')}">
    Lang('lbl_goto_prevpage')}">

And it looks like the values of the pages are held in {$firstpage_url} and {$prevpage_url}, but the questions must be how do I assign the values of these pages to be that value of the current blog entry page? Wouldn't that do it?

Furthermore, here is a sample link that gets assembled for the 'next' set of comments:

http://---.------.com/kms/index.php?mact=CGFeedback,cntnt01,summary,0&cntnt01pagelimit=3&cntnt01key1=CGBlog&cntnt01key2=1&cntnt01pagenum=2&cntnt01returnid=57

Anyone know what is happening here? Some of it makes sense, but I just can't see where I could tell CMSMS to keep the next set of comments on the current blog entry page. Anyone know? Am I the only one responding to this post? Am I just talking to myself here? I know this might be starting to make me a little crazy, but has it really come to this?

his is just the way it works, if you want it changed you may talk to the developer about sponsoring this change...

To me once I start reading comments about something and it goes on to more comments I don't really care about the original 'blog' as I have already read it and am now reading the comments, I've seen many articles that have comments like over 300 and you may have a link at the top to go back to it but all the comments are not below it at all times...

OK, thanks for clearing that up for me Dr CSS. I was ready to spend another day trying to figure out how to do this, so you just saved me a lot of time!  :)
