New CMSMS Catalog Site Using Calguy's Commerce Suite

Post by kendo451 »

VasesRUs.com is now open for business and running on CMS Made Simple with Calguy's E-Commerce Suite.

This my first production site using HTML5 and CSS3.  I converted a VirtuMart template for Joomla, so a lot of the HTML is still junky.  They are using way to many nested divs, but I used what I had.

Thanks to Calguy (Robert Campbell) for taking the E-Commerce Suite from nearly non-existent to pretty good in less than 18 months.  With a little bit of paid support he helped me get the last of the kinks out of this site.

Thanks to Jeremy Bass for the supersizer plugin which is used for all product images on this site.

This looks best in Firefox 3.6+ but it works in IE7+, Chrome, Safari, and Opera.

The Promotions module is used to apply a 50% wholesale discount for logged-in wholesale customers.

hi Kendo451,

Good looking and clear site. Have you done that products part with products-module? Have toy modified it , or can that module do all of that? I am looking something that like.

This site was completely built with off-the-shelf modules and a couple of simple User Defined Tags that I wrote myself.

The customer login is just for Wholesale customers to login so they can receive the discount.  The discount is in Promotions and gives 50% off to members of the FEU group "Wholesale".

It would be good to have order tracking for customers, but I think that would be a separate module that needs to be written.  Maybe someone would like to sponsor Calguy to do that?

Site looks great!  How did you get HTTPS configured? I'm on 1.8.1 and the documentation is outdated.  My checkout hangs after you enter the billing/shipping info on my site.  I assume its the HTTPS/Orders/Auth.netAIM setup.  Can you share your setup with us?  How did you di the checkbox to either show the shipping info text boxes on checkout?  That's clever functionality

sleven, here is a post where I explained how to use the checkbox for show/hide shipping information in Orders:
http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... cseen.html

For https, I used two features:

1. In Orders preferences you can say "Yes" to force HTTPS to take credit card info, which I did.

2. Also, on the options for each page you can check a box for https.  I do this for the Cart and Orders pages.

The only drawback to this, is that once you go onto an https page, all the links back to the regular part of the site are https.  If you click to go back, the rest of your browsing experience is https.

Thanks for the quick response on that shipping address hide.

As for the HTTPs/AuthNet/Orders problem, i made those changes and it still hangs after I click next on the billing/shipping form.  I've read some changes that need to be made on the config file but nothing consistent.  Are there changes that you made to get https to work with auth.net aim in teh config file?  I tested it by turning off auth.net aim and using paypal and it works.  So its looking more an more likely  that its something to do with my auth.net/orders/https setup.  ideas?

Any help would be appreciated.  Been working this issue for over a week now.

Why don't you post your support question in the Modules forum and I will take a look at it there.  When you post it please provide the System Info and Modules that you can find under the Site Admin-> System Information link in the Admin panel.

Also, tell who you are hosting with, whether it is linux or windows, as well as a link to your dev site if you have one we can look at.
