Although it is probably not of much use to the folks using CMSMS MLE, let me just say that I'm starting with CMS, bought wonderful CMS book (combo: paperback+ebook) and chapter 10 entitled "Advanced Use of CMS Made Simple starts with "Localization and translation...and the first thing described is "Making multilingual websites".  :)

Let me just say that the author is using Babel module.  8)

I highly recommend the book and even wrote to the publishers asking for more advanced books about CMSMS.  ;)

MLE is much more than that module. I don't think I can do the same with it. Also MLE was actively supported and widely used.

I am sorry to say that, but this seems just stupid for me. I understand, that some people mistakenly posted question related to the MLE fork to the other parts of the forums, but the appropriate response would be to move them to the right section and not to delete whole section, which was full of useful content (and remove all downloads). I would understand this position, if it was malware, but this is just fascist.

PLEASE: This is not an attempt to start flame war. I understand the different points of view and don't want to argue with you.

I posted my way of building a multilingual website with basic CMS Made Simple stuff in the Tips & Tricks board.
It has become a large topic, but when you take a closer look at it, you will see there are some small changes which make it work.

http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 112.0.html

I hope it helps.

Regards, Rolf  :)

Thanks to Alby for MLE.

Without multilingual option CMS Made Simple is still the #1 choice for me - it's simple enough! So thanks to whole dev team too.

But I guess we MLE users (yes, I too have installed the fork and haven't yet had any problems with modules - oddly some probs with the trademark version of 182 though...) still do not understand why the fork had to be removed from forge and the MLE forum topic was removed. Basically most CMSMS modules found from the forge are worthless anyway (old, stale projects), CalGuys modules are the most important - clean the module section too!

MLE was (is) simple to setup and it is fast to add content in different languages, in my case at the time 4 languages at the most.

Why not just bring MLE back and clearly state that it is what it is - a working mle version of CMSMS, but there is no chance of updating it or modules if you want it to work? If Alby still wants to provide some support concerning MLE (not possible problems with modules), he can do it in his own forum in a pace that is suitable for him? And it should be easy enough to change the name so people would not think it's official version...

Now, if I've understood correctly it seems dev team responds to multilang issue by bringing several new solutions? I don't see the point with that... With so many satisfied MLE users it's obvious that MLE solution was working at least almost exactly the way people expect multilingual cms to work. And I mean those who put in the content, not those who write the code! Why not tackle MLE problems and try to implement it to 1.x series while we are waiting for that 2.x version that's multilingual?
CMSMS forum - ships now with new feature as standard: no criticism allowed.
