I have read Chapter 4 in Sofia Hauschildt's book yet still have questions about template editing.
For my site I've selected the Arty theme/template. I copied that to a new name that I've made the default for my site. I can alter my copy while retaining the original Arty as a backup.
I have found where to change the company name in the header (but need to learn how to replace that text with the graphic company logo) and, by grep'ing the template_c/ directory, changed the content of the tag line. According to Sofia's book the template is a plain html file, yet looking at the directory contents I do not see a list of templates with .html extensions. Looking for a file with 'Arty' or my copy's name in all subdirectories fails to find them.
This leads to my 4 questions:
1.) Where do I find the template file to edit?
2.) On the home page of that template there is a column with a news box and a contact box. I cannot find where to change the content of those boxes looking at Content -> Pages -> Home; where can I find them?
3.) I want to replace the company name as plain text with the .jpg (or .png) graphic logo in the same position. Is this someplace in the template?
4.) The tag line needs to be moved; I assume that's also some place in the template if I can find that to edit in emacs.
All pointers greatly appreciated!
Rich

Re: Template Editing Questions
Templates in CMSMS don't reside as flat file .html files in a folder but are stored in the DB...
So the template should be in layout > templates from there you click the name of the template and it will open it in editable mode, in there you will most likely find the sidebar content, the place in header to change text and the tag line...

Re: Template Editing Questions
D'oh! Of course. I'm used to working in emacs rather than a GUI editor.
I've answered a couple of my questions. The others are probably better placed in the general discussions area than in this one.
Many thanks,
Rich
