[solved] Extetensions/Form Builder/Contact Form help

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[solved] Extetensions/Form Builder/Contact Form help

Post by iwps »

Please forgive a newbie question, but I hope those with experience will remember that at one point, they too were a newbie.

Stats:
CMS Version: 1.8.2
PHP Version: 5.2.12
MySQL Version: 5.0.77
Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.0

Note: "CMS Installation Information" reports all OK except "root_path", which complains about permissions of 777 (Unix for read/write/execute for all), but IIS permissions don't match exactly, so I'm willing to accept this error. Most importantly, "config_file" gives me a green checkmark.

PROBLEM:
Under: "Extensions/Form Builder/Contact Form", I cannot resolve the three red "X" errors in:
a) "Contact Fieldset"
b) "Send To"
c) "fieldset end"

Note that I've set the "CMSMailer" properly (regarding SMTP authentication and such), as my test emails from that screen get through properly.

While I'll concede that my IIS OS is far from the recommended, *any* help would be appreciated. If this question is redundant to another post, please accept my apologies, as I couldn't find it. In fact, if you would like to provide a link where this question has already been answered (because I'm desperate and missed it), that would be a much welcomed answer.

FYI, I'm a single individual hoping to keep a web-hosting business alive (through CMSMS rather obviously) to serve as competition to G$Dad$y. But if I can't resolve these, then it will be time to wrap things up and close the doors.

{Note: I've tried Joomla and Drupal, and CMSMS has BY FAR impressed me the most with not just the ability of novices being able to plug in content (assuming...which I have, that I've loaded enough templates to make it practical), but ease-of-use. CMSMS may be the last life-ring I have.}

All comments, criticisms, and opinions welcome.

Thank you to anyone who contributes in any fashion!

Are you sure those are errors, have you tried the form on a page, as it does have red X but it should be under Required as in required to be filled by visitor inputting info and not ERROR, I've never seen an error place on forms...

DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!

You are exactly correct Dr.CSS that the red "X's" that the errors, though indicated in the setup, do not preclude the visitor from inputting data info into the form without error.

After clearing cache, I was able to submit the form successfully...meaning {in the words of today's youth..."my bad"}. I'm embarrassed to having even raised this issue now.

However, without your challenge I would not have even tried it again, ultimately meaning that you've assisted me with a problem that though I perceived as such, did not truly exist. This is not a waste of time, as you've saved me a significant amount of troubleshooting when none was necessary.

THANK YOU!!!!

Hey, maybe my new trial test of CMSMS will be the savior of my future business model (one can hope, right?).

Your VERY speedy response and resolution (i.e. "a slap across the head" ;-} ) is GREATLY appreciated.
