Hi All,
We're looking to update our website using CMS Made Simple, but need some advice on the initial setup and configuration.
Our company has two products and a matching domain name for each. We also have our company domain name.
We would like to promote each product separately through the products domain name such as:
www.ProductA.com
www.ProductB.com
We also want to use CMSMS to be used in our company website, which will point visitors to our product specific sites and provide general info about us.
It seems we have two options for accomplishing this:
1. Install a separate instance of CMSMS for each domain and maintain all 3 sites separately.
This seems a bit clunky for us since it would require much more administration to keep all the software and modules up to date in all these places, 3 sets of users etc.
2. Install CMSMS in our company domain and then divide up the two products sites using sub folders and separate themes. Users would still arrive at a products site by going to www.ProductX.com but we could then use a redirect link to switch to www.company.com/ProductX.
Even if the three sites were really being hosted on the same domain, we would want to hide this fact from the users as much as possible.
Each product site would have a Blog and Forum section, which we were thinking could be the same installs on the back end but simply filter out what the user sees based on categories.
Can anyone provide some feedback on the pros and cons of choosing either of these approaches?
Thanks in advance for the help!
Jim
Advice on Multiple Products on Same Domain
Re: Advice on Multiple Products on Same Domain
hmmm.
No responses so far.
Perhaps the question is too vague?
Can I clarify this at all in hopes for some feedback?
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Advice on Multiple Products on Same Domain
You may have more luck searching for multi-domain, multiple domain, etc., in the forum, has been discussed many times and even some ideas on how to do it and maybe even a module for it...
