'Could not get instance of required module: FrontEndUsers'

Post by m4rt »

Hi all, I hope someone can help?

I tried to upgrade the Forum Made Simple module from the Module Manager and now my site only displays this message: Could not get instance of required module: FrontEndUsers

Can anyone help me fix this upgrade to tell me how I can revert the site back to it's previous state.

Please note that I cannot access any part of the site now:-(

Thanks in advance

Take a look in the module requirements of the forum module.
(Backend: Extensions->Modules -> About)
Look what version of FrontEndUsers is needed and compare with the installed one.
Maybe you just also need to upgrade FrontEndUsers.

Thanks NaN

I have looked at the database and reverted the modules back to the versions listed. Site's up an running now:-).

Think I'll upgrade FrontEndUsers first as suggested ;D but seems a bit rubbish that you completely loose your site if you get the order you upgrade wrong ???

You should always take a look at the module dependencies before installing/upgrading modules.
The ModuleManager informs you if there are additional modules needed.
But unfortunately it does not tell you if you have the apropriate version installed.

In most cases if you try to install a module that needs an additional module that is not installed you will get a message that something is missed. But this only seems to work if you try to install the module. Not if you upgrade. Hm. I don't see any other solution than just to carefully do some investigantions by yourself before changing something.
