Premature end of script headers: listcontent.php

Post by HLA91 »

Hi all

After installing CMSMS, I tried to edit some pages but as soon as I click Submit I get

[churchwebsite.awardspace.co.uk] [Tue Jul 13 17:52:48 2010] [error] [client 94.0.121.112] Premature end of script headers: listcontent.php, referer: http://churchwebsite.awardspace.co.uk/a ... tent_id=36
Error 500: Script Execution Failure

But, I can click Apply, and it works and also if I go to the site whilst I still have the Error 500 page open in another tab the page HAS been changed.
So it produces the error but does change the site.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks

Install a fresh new version of CMSMS in a subfolder on your site, verify checksum, on step 5 connect to same database or a copy of your database, uncheck "create tables and install sample content". Easiest and fastest.

I uploaded a new copy into a subfolder called cms and when I started the install process I gave it the checksum file and it gave me the "loading" symbol them bam just blank page. I have tried this twice now but still presented with blank page. Could this be my hosting as currently I am on awardspace free plan just to test to see if it all works, if it does then I will upgrade.

Many thanks

If you can't even install anything, it may very well be your hosting. What hosting specs do they list? PHP version?

Skip the checksum, and go to Step 2. Where you have several tests that fail. You'll need to Geegle/search the forum for those failed checks, or contact your hosting. This is where you find out why we all pay for hosting - SO I CAN CALL SOMEONE 24/7 if there's a problem.

I am pretty sure when I installed the first CMS that those checks were fine so i can only assume that having 2 cms is putting strain on my free hosting.

I would go for paid hosting but as i said this site is mainly to show my priest what cms made simple can do for him. If he is interested (which I am sure he will be) then he will invest in hosting its just he wants to see it in action on the web first.

If you just want to see it in action install it on a localhost.
Or just try this site: http://php.opensourcecms.com/scripts/de ... scriptid=9

I did think of installing xamp on a USB stick and taking it round to him but I am struggling to get hold of him to arrange a time to show it to him. I will email him and point him to that Demo though thanks for that.

Also whilst Iam here can anyone reccommend some good cheap hosting. I would rather go on recomendations than a sales pitch.

Also CAN anyone tell me what the premature end of script was all about?

Many thanks

You want cheap hosting, but then half a year later the website will go down, break, or get hacked, and you will get no help from the hosting people. Don't try to save money in the wrong places. Get good hosting (several databases, 24/7 phone tech support, SSH), make a good website, make it make money, site making money will pay for its hosting.

Stay away from godaddy. My clients have used 1and1, hostmonster, bluehost, hostgator, dreamhost. It's hard to distinguish between them. How can you? Having SSH will indicate they are not going to cheap. Also call tech support, see how fast they answer, and ask them a technical question like above. See what they say.
