Meetup/Pub Crawl in Europe?

Post by Ted »

Since several of the devs are going to be together in Europe for the Geek Moot event in Amsterdam, I was wondering if there would be any interest in having a meetup/pub crawl in another European city right after the event.

I've been tossing around the idea of going to Paris for a day or two right after the event, so that would work.  But I could also be swayed to go somewhere else if it'll help bring the community together.  And maybe some of the other devs would be interested as well.

This would probably be around Sept 19-20.

Thoughts?

The advantage of Brussels is to be quickly reachable from many places (as well as Paris).

Train: less than 2h from Amsterdam, Paris, Cologne, London (2h06) for 50€...

Very cosmopolitan city with many places to go, many bars, and of course:

Belgian Beer !!!
Belgian Chocolate !!!
Belgian Waffles !!!
Belgian Fries !!!
...

Think about it ;-)

I'm broadly in favour of Brussels as well since it's quite central although, obviously, Paris would be more exciting.

Problem is that if no-one actually _knows_ a good bar in Paris that we could get to we'd all just end up in the bar nearest to the station we arrived into...

Brussels at last has the benefit of being smaller and more navigable.
