Post by ozstar »

Hi,

I am very  new to CMSMadeSimple but know DW quite well.

I would like to have a theme similar to this page where someone can edit the images, product, price etc in the middle area only.

http://www.1300rentbuy.com/08-rentals/08-tv.htm

What is the easiest and quickest way for me to achive this please?

Thanks

oz

BTW  I have installed the base cose on my XP wamp and whilst i have read a lot on teh foruma nd intructs still quite confused the ebst way to do what I need to do.  Don't need it for about anything else just this.

Running thru the How-To documentation section would help.

I would stay away from table based layout, it's best for things like the center of that where you want to show the products but not the whole page, there is a 3 column wireframe theme you could start with in the themes section, then you could use the products module for the products and call it in the center part...

OMG!  :o 1995 called... they want their web site back!    ;)   i'd say you're well overdue for a web site makeover.

are you moving just the normal web pages to cms made simple.... or are you going to move the ecommerce (oscommerce?) stuff over too?

dr.css has the right idea..   time to lighten the load and move to a table-free css-driven layout.

check out a few themes from the themes site to see what it takes to put one together and give 'er a go. you're working on a test setup, so don't be afraid of breaking something.

there's numerous css 'frameworks' (they've sprouted like weeds the last few years) to consider that might give you a running start...

I will therefore not attempt to convert the sent template into a CMSMS template because I agree a rebuild is better.

Thanks guys..

Yes I agree with you all that's why I'm looking at this type of CMS site.

I will first go look at the 3 col framework.

I suggested the normal shopping cart which we do a lot of, however they do not want that approach for some reason.

Once again thanks for the experience and time.

oz  :-)
