[solved] Please help with a featured item suggestion

Hi Folks, Ive been trying News and CGBlog to have a Bloglike list of items on a News Page, & both work well.  What I am after is a way to have News or Blog item links listed on the Homepage sidebar so that the link jumps actual item page rather than opening the Item on the Homepage.
or/  Some way of having a Featured Item link that opens its own Item Page.
Am I just using the wrong modules for this? If so, is there something I can use..

Hi Folks, after trawl9ing ages I foiund a way to do what I want (I think) , it works anyway.
I made a news template that shows onlythe title links.
Then I used : {news summarytemplate='Titlesummary' detailpage='apartments' } 
Now I can place the news link list on a page and have the user jump to the list,
If there is a better way, please let me know.
Basically Im trying to make a simple stupid rental list of apartments and use news to post each unit.
I tried some rental plugins but had real problems with the availablity bit.

That is precisely the way to do it!  ;D

Of course, you can add a detailtemplate value as well, should you need to do so.
